100 Dewa employees perform Umrah for free
During the Holy Month of Ramadan, 100 employees from the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority’s (Dewa) staff performed Umrah, as part of the ‘Umrat Zayed Al Khair’ campaign launched by Dewa for the second consecutive year.
The campaign enables staff to visit the Holy Mosque in Makkah to perform Umrah without any financial burden. This is part of Dewa’s integrated voluntary and social programme during the Year of Zayed 2018, to perpetuate the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Dewa’s MD and CEO, congratulated the employees involved in the campaign on the completion of Umrah, and wished them all happiness and tranquility.
“We are delighted to bring happiness to the hearts of our employees by enabling them to visit Mecca and perform Umrah during the Holy Month of Ramadan and bear all the financial expenses. This is part of our strategy to make our employees happy, establish work affiliation, and contribute to the balance between their professional and personal lives. At Dewa, we are fully convinced that employees are the key to achieving institutional excellence at all levels and divisions,” said Al Tayer.
Al Tayer highlighted that the Umrat Zayed Al Khair initiative reflects Dewa’s commitment towards valuable principles such as tolerance, generosity, mercy, giving, and serving the country. Through its initiatives, Dewa is keen to embody the national and human heritage of Sheikh Zayed which enables the UAE to have a notable presence worldwide thanks to his leadership, wisdom and vision, which is a guiding light for the UAE to reach the goals of the UAE Centennial 2071.
Dewa’s voluntary and social programme during the Year of Zayed consists of 6 programmes and 29 initiatives that involve multiple events, reflecting the noble principles and values instilled by the late Sheikh Zayed.
