RAK musallas, parks ready for Eid day
ras al khaimah — The department of Public Works in Ras Al Khaimah has spruced up all the musallas, mosques and parks in the emirate, in preparation for the Eid Al Fitr holiday.
According to a top official here, new interlocks, irrigation systems, walls, fences and parking lots have been maintained and developed to spread the joy of the feast and add to public satisfaction.
Ahmed Mohammed Ahmed Al Hammadi, director of the RAK Public Works department, said all the parks of the emirate have been decorated to ensure public convenience in the holiday. “New interlocks have been installed on a total area of 1,200m at the musalla of the Manaei area, while its wall has been maintained and painted as well.”
The 3,600-metre Suhaila musalla has also been refurbished, he added. “New gates and interlocks have been installed there.”
A number of big mosques in the emirate have also been prepared for the Eid prayers. “These include three at Al Dheit area, two at Al Rifaa, two at Al Uraibi, and two at Dafta.”
Al Hammadi said the department started installing Eid decorations on the main roundabouts and roads, to enhance the image of the emirate and mark the happy occasion. “The ongoing development projects of the emirates will give a shiny facelift to the parks and Corniche Al Qawasim before the end of this year.”
The development works at the Saqr public park, for example, span the extension of green areas, replacement of internal corridors and development of the water lagoon and main entrance, he explained.
“A new fence is being installed at the Corniche Al Qawasim where all the lights, seats and fountains are being replaced with new ones to entertain the always growing visitors.”
The middle island of the 6km long road between Al Qusaidat and Kharan areas is also being developed and planted, he stated. “The irrigation network will be completely changed on several roads, particularly this one, to reduce the amount of water being used.”
The floriculture ornamental plants on these roads will be watered only as per need, he underlined. “The new irrigation systems installed on some roads have reduced water consumption by 30 per cent.” ahmedshaaban@khaleejtimes.com
