Police ready with security and traffic arrangemen­ts

dubai — The Dubai Police have completed its security preparatio­ns for Eid Al Fitr, with a comprehens­ive plan of action for all police department­s and police stations.

Patrols will also be intensifie­d on the emirate’s internal and external roads and police presence enhanced in order to ensure the safety of citizens, residents and visitors.

179 traffic patrols will monitor all areas and streets of Dubai, to reduce congestion and accidents during the festival. Extra maritime security patrols are also being deployed, with additional rescue boats and drivers working round the clock.

Major-General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commanderi­n-chief of the Criminal Investigat­ion Department, said that CID officers will work round the clock as well, besides military and civilian security patrols during the Eid holiday.

All police stations are in readiness for Eid Al Fitr, and Maj-Gen Al Mansouri called on citizens and residents not to leave their homes without ensuring their safety and to participat­e in the housing security service, through the Dubai Smart Police smart app or website. This free preventive security service protects resident’s homes during the holidays, whether they are in or outside the country.

Beachgoers are asked not to carry any valuables with them, or leave it inside their vehicles while swimming. Families are alerted about keeping an eye on their children while at beaches or parks.

Officials confirm security readiness

Brigadier General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, director general of the Department of Security and Emergency, said they were ready for Eid Al Fitr, forming major security sectors in Dubai and other mini-sectors, in addition to security patrols in every sector roaming all areas.

Security patrols have also been arranged at all commercial centres, markets and tourist areas, to ensure the safety of visitors and tourists.

Brigadier Abdul Qader Al Bannai, director of the Port police station, said that there are “land and sea” points to deal with emergency situations on beaches and at sea, during the Eid holiday. Patrols include a maritime rescue boat with 40 rescue personnel, from sea rescuers and boat drivers, deployed on the beaches on a daily basis.

Brig Al Bannai pointed out that rescue personnel are always ready to deal with all emergency incidents and within 24 hours. They are divided into the rotation system, to be on standby at any hour and receive a report at any emergency.

The joint patrols of Maritime Rescue and Maritime Security patrols have been deployed to cover large areas of beaches such as Jumeirah beach, Mamzar Dubai beach, Al Hamriya beach, Burj Al Arab and Umm Suqeim beach, as well as marine patrols in Dubai Creek and Dubai Water Channel.

Brig Gen Omar Al Shamsi, deputy director general of Operations for Operations, called on the public not to hesitate to call 999 in the event of any emergency during the Eid Al Fitr holiday, and to ring 901 in non-emergency situations. They can also use the SOS service through the Dubai Police app.

The well-staffed and equipped Command and Control room, on receiving emergency and nonemergen­cy calls, identifies police and emergency personnel closest to the scene of the incident and respond immediatel­y and move to the scene in a record time.

Colonel Juma bin Suwaidan, deputy director of the General Department of Traffic in Dubai Police, said that they have set up a traffic plan for all areas and streets, including the 179 patrols.

The Dubai Police will adopt the best and latest methodolog­ies to control road safety, by taking into account the various events and events that affect the traffic flow, pointing out that the distributi­on of patrols and walkers in areas that are congested with traffic.

In other emirates

The Sharjah and Ajman Police department­s will also handle crowds in vital areas and ensure smooth traffic to reduce accidents during Eid Al Fitr. In Sharjah, Brigadier General Mohammad Rashed Bayat, director-general of Police Operations, said that they have completed all security preparatio­ns to ensure traffic flow and enhance safety measures. This is in line with the Ministry of Interior’s strategy to make roads safer and provide a rapid and effective response to all potential emergencie­s.

Patrols will be intensifie­d and traffic arrangemen­ts monitored at shopping areas, around mosques and musallas, as well as internal and external roads, to prevent accidents and ensure smooth traffic flow. The traffic patrols also will work on regulating crowds and traffic during Eid prayers in all mussallas and mosques. Patrols have already been intensifie­d in residentia­l areas in various parts of the emirate of Sharjah.

Brig Gen urged parents to exercise caution and not allow their children to wander into the streets, to runover accidents near residences, on internal roads and near public parks. He also urged all motorists to abide by the speed limit and leave enough distance between vehicles.

Lt Colonel Saif Abdullah Al Falasi, director of Traffic and Patrol Department of Ajman Police, said that they have finalised their traffic plan for Eid Al Fitr, with and additional 40 traffic and security patrols to prevent traffic congestion and control reckless driving.

These patrols will work 24/7 until the end of the Eid holiday.
