Battle exposes Qatar’s links to Houthi militias

DUBAI — Qatar and its media arm Al Jazeera’s support to the Iranbacked Houthi militias has again been exposed in the wake of a recent campaign launched by joint Yemeni forces supported by the Saudi-led Arab coalition backing Yemen’s legitimate government, showing Doha’s complete disregard to the suffering of the Yemeni people.

In the past, Doha had always claimed that it supported public sentiments, but Qatar’s tilt towards Al Houthis has exposed the fake stance it has been adopting for years, which served as a disguise to enable the Muslim brotherhood group and its allies that are loyal to Doha to seize power in Arab countries, including Egypt.

Since the Arab coalition announced that the battle to liberate Al Hodeida is nearing, the Qatari media, led by Al Jazeera – the mouthpiece of Doha’s policies — has stepped up its news coverage in support of the Houthis.

A report by Al Jazeera tried to put blame on the Arab coalition for the suffering of civilians in the governorate of Al Hodeida despite the fact that the area is under the occupation of Houthi militias. The Arab coalition is struggling to liberate the city from the clutches of militias and bring it back under the legitimate government.

Al Jazeera’s biased news coverage has sparked anger among commentators who see a clear strategy by Qatar to settle scores with the boycotting Arab countries represented by Saudi Arabia and the UAE, disregarding its earlier stance it had taken before the boycott that it stand with the Arab coalition against the Houthi coup.

Adviser of the Saudi Royal Court Saud Al Qahtani said: “The little one is crying ... instigating the world against the real fighters of the present day. Even if all humans and genies joined their hands to discourage our King and Crown Prince from a matter that concerns the country and protection of its borders, they could not succeed. Thanks to God we have soldiers who like martyrdom as much as you like conspiracy and meanness.”

At the dawn on Wednesday, massive troops of the southern and national resistance forces of Yemen moved towards Al Hodeida city backed by the Emirati elite forces and Arab coalition warships and fighter jets, in an operation code named ‘the Golden Eagle’.
