Having travel insurance during a holiday is your safety net against unexpected problems. There are a few important things to know for making a claim for the covered plans. Firstly, whenever you travel, remember your insurance policy number. Know your assistance, service centre and medical emergency contact numbers.
For medical emergency
> You need to have medical reports, details about diagnosis and treatment
> A scanned or photocopy of your original prescriptions
For personal accident
> You need to have medical reports or information clarifying dismemberment or disability
> Death certificate and post mortem report of the deceased, in case of accidental death
> Original invoices relating to repatriation of remains
> Police report where applicable, like a car accident For travel inconvenience
> Get original invoices of the emergency expenses incurred due to the disruption of your travel
> Get official letter from the airlines confirming the flight delay, baggage delay or baggage loss
> A scanned or photocopy copy of baggage tags and Property Irregularity Report for baggage delay/ loss
> Add details of compensation, if any, paid by the airline
> A scanned copy or photocopy of ticket showing original itinerary and of the boarding pass of actual travel in case of flight delay
For loss of travel documents > Get original invoices of the emergency expenses incurred due to the loss of document or wallet
> A police report where applicable
> Provide a confirmation of loss where police report is not applicable
> A scanned or photocopy of supporting documents to confirm the value of lost/stolen item
