Central bank heads meet in Abu Dhabi

abu dhabi — The Arab Monetary Fund (AMF) has held its annual meeting of the Permanent Office of the Council of Governors of Arab Central Banks and Monetary Agencies at its headquarte­rs in Abu Dhabi to prepare for the upcoming 42nd session of the council.

The meeting was headed by Abdel Aziz Ould Dahi, governor of the Mauritania­n central bank and chairman of the current session of the council, and was attended by Mubarak Rashed Al Mansouri, governor of the Central Bank of the UAE, and Dr Abdulrahma­n bin Abdullah Al Hamidi, director-general and chairman of the AMF.

The meeting’s agenda included a report by the council’s secretaria­t that was presented by Al Hamidi, as well as a several topics included in a report by the Arab Committee on Banking Supervisio­n; two reports about the work of regional teams responsibl­e for promoting financial inclusion and financial stability in the Arab region; a report on the work of the Arab Committee on Credit Informatio­n; and another report on the work of the Arab Committee for Payment and Settlement Systems.

The office approved a draft speech on issues that were recommende­d for inclusion in a unified Arab speech for 2018 that will be given by the Arab Group in the annual meetings of the Internatio­nal Monetary Fund and the World Bank, which will be held in October in Bali, Indonesia.
