Govt to execute court orders in Sharif trial

islamabad — Minister for Informatio­n, Broadcasti­ng, National Heritage, and Law Affairs, Barrister Syed Ali Zafar has said the government would implement the court’s decision regarding former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The legal process would be followed from Monday, he said while talking to a TV channel. The caretaker government would also implement court’s orders regarding confiscati­on of Sharif ’s properties.

Responding to a question, he said if the Sharif family decided to approach courts the National Accountabi­lity Court would make its strategy accordingl­y.

Zafar said that Nawaz Sharif has a right to file an appeal against the court decision.

He said that it was easy to bring those wanted people back to Pakistan who hold Pakistani citizenshi­p

The government would also implement court’s orders regarding confiscati­on of Sharif’s properties Ali Zafar, Caretaker minister

and added that Nawaz Sharif had the option to approach the British courts.

Replying to a question, he said that Pakistan did not have extraditio­n treaty with the British government. Zafar said that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz would be brought back to Pakistan with the help of the British government.

Responding to a question about Maryam Nawaz’s husband Mohammed Safdar, he said the National Accountabi­lity Bureau was making efforts to arrest him.
