PML-N leader warns of jail-filling drive if Sharif, Maryam held
peshawar — Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader Arbab Khizer Hayat, while expressing his strong reservation over the sentence awarded to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz, and son-in-law Capt. (retd) Mohammed Safdar, by an accountability court, has threatened to court arrest in protest against planned arrest of the party leaders on return from London.
Talking to newsmen here, Hayat said leaguers will never accept a judgment which smacks of vengeance instead of dispensation of justice.
“The PML-N workers will not remain silent over this judgment and initiate a jail-filling campaign by courting arrests in protest”, he warned. “We will take the judgment against our Quaid (leader) to the court of people” Hayat vowed. “For getting justice from people, we will hold meetings in every nook and corner of the country to apprise the masses of the conspiracies being hatched against the leadership of the PML-N,” he added.
Arbab said sending a person behind bars who made our country a nuclear power is tantamount to pushing the country towards instability. “History stands witness to the fact that any effort of discrediting popular leadership of the country through controversial court orders has never succeeded. The planners of such conspiracies have themselves to stand in the court of law after their name and nefarious designs are revealed.”
Arbab alleged that holding court proceedings in haste for punishing a leader who made defence of country impregnable and ended the menace of terrorism is contrary to the norms of justice and speaks volumes about wishes of getting desired verdict of their choice by hidden elements.
“On July 25, masses will declare null and void all such decisions announced against their leadership by casting vote in favour of PML-N candidates,” Arbab said. —
