Imran taunts Sharif over links to Modi
islamabad — Pakistan Tehreeke-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has taunted former prime minister Nawaz Sharif over his “friendship” with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and accused the two of creating the law and order situation in the country and tension at the border to manipulate the situation in favour of the rival PML-N.
The cricketer-turned-politician in a tweet said: “Beginning to wonder why whenever Nawaz Sharif is in trouble, there is increasing tension along Pakistan’s borders and a rise in terrorist acts? Is it a mere coincidence?”
Khan’s tweet was based on a slogan frequently raised by PTI workers and supporters at its public meetings: “Modi Ka Jo Yaar Hai, Ghaddar Hai, Ghaddar Hai (friend of Modi is a traitor)”.
Meanwhile, Imran Khan said on Saturday he would not confine himself to his Bani Gala residence despite attempts of certain elements to affect elections by creating unrest in the country.
Addressing a public meeting in Swabi, he said that PTI’s election campaign would continue till July 23. He alleged that bomb blasts were part of a foreign conspiracy, adding some internal elements were also colluding with miscreants.
“I have been asked to cancel public meeting but who will benefit from the postponement of my election campaign,” he questioned. Imran termed corruption a cancer and said the menace had weakened the country.
Meanwhile, PTI Information Secretary Fawad Chaudhry criticised the PML-N for creating the law and order situation in Punjab province during the return of Sharif and his daughter.
