ABU DHABI — A Dh36-million community market spanning more than 23,000 square metres is one of the latest projects set for Abu Dhabi’s new residential cities.

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality on Monday signed two contracts with Tristar Construction and Real Estate Company, including one for building a community market in Mohamed Bin Zayed city (MBZ) and the second agreement is for building a service station for residential districts in Al Shawamekh city spanning 5,585sqm.

Construction of the community market, which comprises a hypermarket, restaurants, coffee shops, a health club, quality retail outlets, kids day-care and play grounds and a government service support centre, will be completed within a period of two years from now.

The market in MBZ Zone 23, will occupy a floor area of 13,989sqm. It will be the first of its kind in MBZ City and is intended to serve thousands of Emirati families and expats. The operation of the market is set to start in the final quarter of 2020.

“We want to bring modern services close to the people. Upon completion, the market will offer high-class shopping services and contribute to improving the quality of living in the area,” said Al Qubaisi.
