Clumsy phone user? These rugged ones are just for you
dubai — One of the last things a mobile user would want to happen is breaking his or her phone. So it wouldn’t hurt if one had a device that would withstand frequent drops.
“We are very customer-centric; we listen to the market so that we can bring the latest technology at an affordable price,” Tim Chen, founder and managing director of XTouch, said.
And, not just out of comfort and affordability, but most importantly necessity, “we came up with the toughest, most solid” device, he pointed out.
Chen was speaking during the launch of XTouch’s new range of mobile phones in Dubai.
Four devices — the feature phones XBot Champ and XBot Swimmer, plus the XBot Senior and XBot Junior smartphones — were unveiled at the event, all promising durability and toughness in any kind of situation.
In particular, the XBot Senior is IP69-rated; compared to the nowfamiliar IP68 rating seen in most flagships today, IP69 can additionally withstand a close-range, high-pressure and high-temperature water jet.
Chen, during his presentation, said that research conducted by the Dubai-headquartered company found out that 45 per cent of mobile users accidentally damage their phones, with the average time before breaking it after purchasing one at 10 weeks.
Thirty-eight per cent of users drop their device out of their hand, while 28 per cent drop it in liquid. Furthermore, 20 per cent drop their devices in the bathroom, while 15 per cent break it by dropping it off their lap.
Chen also revealed that XTouch is expanding its presence in the European market; following forays into Spain and Italy, the company has its sights set on France in September.
XTouch, which makes some of the most affordable smartphones in the market, is also continuing its signature programme for students and low-income workers, including discounts or monthly installments, which is available on its website.
