abu dhabi — A new initiative launched in Abu Dhabi on Sunday will see Emirati youth get trained at major internatio­nal companies to gain experience and hold meetings around the world to review global trends.

The UAE Youth Global Initiative will help the youth “unleash their full potential” to enhance the country’s reputation and spread awareness of its values, heritage and allembraci­ng developmen­t drive.

Launching the initiative on Internatio­nal Youth Day, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, said: “We are in a constant race with the world. We can lead the way by investing in science and building distinctiv­e and inspiring national capacities that take us to the forefront.”

abu dhabi — His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has launched the UAE Youth Global Initiative to help Emirati youth unleash their full potential to enhance the country’s reputation and spread awareness of its values, heritage and all-embracing developmen­t drive.

This came during Sheikh Mohamed’s attendance of a youth circle, organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs, on the occasion of the Internatio­nal Youth Day, which is observed on August 12, every year.

Sheikh Mohamed said that the youth are the cornerston­e of progress and developmen­t in any society. He added that emerging nations are the ones who invest in youth, work to support and empower them, and employ their abilities optimally as they are the key catalyst for developmen­t and progress of any country.

“We are in a constant race with the world. We can lead the way by investing in science and by building distinctiv­e and inspiring national capacities that take us to the forefront. The children of Zayed are the ones who can take us up there,” Sheikh Mohamed said, during the Youth Circle, entitled ‘The Global Role of UAE Youth’, organised at Al Bahr Palace Majlis in Abu Dhabi.

He also wished them sustainabl­e success in representi­ng the nation, calling on them to continue to acquire more advanced science, knowledge and technical skills to in order to be able to efficientl­y deal with the requiremen­ts of the current and future stages.

Sheikh Mohamed added that the UAE’s wise leadership led by the President, His Highness Sheikh

Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, considers youth empowermen­t utmost priority and spares no efforts to ensure their developmen­t and contributi­on to placing the country on the global competitiv­eness map.

“As we celebrate the Internatio­nal Youth Day, we recall when our Founding Father Zayed placed full confidence in the nation’s young people. A solid relationsh­ip was establishe­d, based on unwavering faith in the capabiliti­es of the youth, which has helped make the UAE what it is today,” Sheikh Mohamed said at the circle organised by the Ministry of Youth Affairs.

The initiative aims to revive the role assumed by youth in enhancing the reputation of the UAE and to strengthen the bonds between them and their peers worldwide. It also seeks to support the involvemen­t of the country’s youth in various internatio­nal events and official missions abroad.

It includes training the UAE youth in major internatio­nal companies to gain experience, holding meetings around the world to review global trends, best practices and the role of youth in ensuring UAE’s competitiv­eness globally. It also envisages joint initiative­s with young cadres from different parts of the world to spread awareness of UAE values, culture and comprehens­ive developmen­tal drive.

In turn, Shamma bint Suhail Faris Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, expressed her thanks and appreciati­on to Sheikh Mohamed for attending the seminar, which comes to reaffirm his keenness to interact with the country’s youth, listen to them and share their hopes, aspiration­s and ideas.

The youth circle was attended by Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitari­an Foundation; Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; Sheikh Khalid bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Department of Transport; Sheikh Zayed bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Director of the Martyrs’ Families’ Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court. —
