Man faces jail for molesting girl during tuition classes

dubai — A worker, who molested a 15-year-old schoolgirl during private tutoring sessions at her parents’ house, was sentenced to six months in jail by a Dubai court on Sunday.

According to public prosecution records, the 40-year-old Bangladeshi worker molested the Indian girl five times while he was tutoring her to memorise the Holy Quran. He is accused of touching the girl’s hand and leg and kissing her on the cheek.

The student said the defendant would come to her parents’ house to tutor her four times a week since three months. “After some time, he started to touch my hand and my leg with the excuse that I was not paying enough attention. But I took that lightly then.” She recounted to the investigator that at 10pm on June 17, he grabbed her cheek and kissed her. “He kissed me saying that he was more like a friend than a father and that he is a young man. I felt scared and stepped away from him. He then said he was sorry and requested that I would not tell anybody about it.”

However, after he left, she told her parents. She then revealed that her tutor had behaved similarly five times on five different occasions, the last on June 17.

She justified not informing her parents earlier as she was feeling scared. The worker, who is detained, admitted to the charge.
