dubai — A man has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance for allegedly molesting a 10-year-old girl while doing painting work at her parents’ house.

Public prosecution records show the 24-year-old Pakistani worker groped and kissed the British girl on June 7 in Al Barsha.

The girl’s father, a manager, said the family had gathered to eat when he spotted his daughter not looking well. “When I asked her if everything was fine she told us that a worker, who was painting our house, molested her in a room.”

The girl recounted to her father that she went in a room to see the new paint when the worker touched her inappropriately. “The worker went outside then came back and touched her again. She walked away from him but he followed her to tell her not to tell anybody about it,” the father told the prosecutor.

As she felt scared she waited until the painter left their house then confided to her brother. She then told her parents. The father filed a complaint at Al Barsha police station and the worker was arrested the next day.

The girl told the investigator the worker kept looking at her in a scary way later. A police corporal said: “The defendant claimed he slipped, lost balance and touched the girl accidentally; But then he touched her again.”

The accused admitted that he abused the girl. A court ruling will be announced on September 13.
