Motorist jumps red signal, one hurt in two-vehicle collision

abu dhabi — A motorist had a close shave on Friday after a speeding vehicle jumped the red signal and collided with another vehicle in Abu Dhabi, according to police.

The collision between two vehicles had occurred at the intersecti­on of the Sheikh Zayed Road and one driver was injured in the accident, said the police.

Authoritie­s released images of the accident, showing one car upside down after the collision.

The police added that a tip-off was received by the Command and Control Centre, and police patrols and ambulances swiftly rushed to the scene and transferre­d the injured driver to Khalifa Hospital.

Lieutenant Colonel Salah Abdullah Al Humairi, Deputy Director of Abu Dhabi Traffic Department at Traffic and Patrols Department, said the main cause of the accident was jumping of the red light signal by the motorist.

Lieutenant Colonel Al Humairi urged motorists to abide by the traffic laws to avoid horrible accidents and putting lives in danger .

The police also issued warning against jumping red signals, highlighti­ng that it can cause major accidents and deaths.
