Mideast win two matches on the trot

dubai — Mideast Metals recorded easy wins in both their matches in the ICC Academy Summer Cricket League’s Twenty20 outdoor cricket tournament at Dubai Sports City.

Mideast Metals first eased past ANIB by six wickets before easing past Dubai Mammoths by five wickets.

Winning the toss and opting to bat first, ANIB managed 93 in 18.3 overs with Farooq claiming three wickets while Ali Anwar and Khurram bagged two each.

In reply, Mideast overcame early hiccups before Ateeq blasted a fine 42-ball 47 supported by three fours and two sixes to guide his team to victory.

In their other match, Ali Anwar scored a crucial 30-ball 41 consisting of two boundaries and as many sixes as Mideast chased a target of 126 with seven balls to spare.

Roaring Lions were tested hard by Dubai Daredevils before recording a close one-wicket win.

Batting first, Dubai Daredevils achieved an impressive 161 after Abdul Aziz (37) and Mohit (33) came good with the bat. Roaring Lions lost two wickets even before opening their account but Nelson blasted a 37ball 48 while Rajeeb smashed a 41-ball 50 as they won in the last ball with a wicket to spare.

In another match, Gems Education defeated Emirates NBD by four wickets with Asim scoring a late unbeaten 25.

Zafar (3/14) and Faizan (2/11) played a big role in bundling out Emirates NBD for 89 before they stuttered towards their target after losing six wicket.
