Man threatens to slit woman’s throat over Dh2,000
dubai — A construction worker has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance after he allegedly threatened to slit a woman’s throat over Dh2,000.
Prosecutors accused the 45-year-old Vietnamese worker of making criminal threats and blackmailing the victim.
The case dates back to June 6 and was registered at Al Muraqqabat police station.
During investigation, the 28-year-old Vietnamese complainant, who works as a hairdresser, said the defendant came to her flat and threatened her with a big kitchen knife. “He placed the knife on my neck and told me to pay him Dh2,000. He threatened to slit my throat. A man, who was there, took him away from me and out of my place, with the help of two others.”
The hairdresser thinks he could have been upset after she kicked him out of his flat because he used narcotics.
A Filipino man, 33, confirmed to the investigating prosecutor he saw the defendant threatening the victim with a knife. “He spoke in his native language which I don’t understand. I pulled him away to the kitchen. But I heard from her later that it was about some money he wanted her to pay him.”
The worker admitted to the charges during the public prosecution investigation. He was identified by the complainant among other suspects at the police station. The next hearing is scheduled for October 7.
