Sheikh Hamdan hails UAE jockeys

north carolina — The UAE jockeys have proved their outstandin­g talent in the world of equestrian sports, said Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai,

Sheikh Hamdan’s remarks came at the FEI World Equestrian Games (September 11-23) at the Tryon Internatio­nal Equestrian Center, Mill Spring, North Carolina, USA.

The UAE, led by Sheikh Hamdan, is taking part in the world equestrian championsh­ip. Sheikh Hamdan is the overwhelmi­ng favourite in the championsh­ips, having won the title in the last edition in Normandy, France, in 2014.

“The UAE’s persistenc­e to excel and dominate in different races and sports is stemmed from the country’s vast experience. Its senior jockeys have been competing at the highest level for many years,” Shaikh Hamdan added.

The UAE, thanks to the vision of its leaders and resolve of its sons to succeed, has become home to achievemen­ts in all fields and at all levels, Shaikh Hamdan added.

This will make the UAE jockeys more determined to win races. They have taken part in several major world championsh­ips. And they have been well known for their strength, bravery and ability to bag titles, he noted.

As many as 126 jockeys from 40 countries are participat­ing in the endurance race, which kicked off at 6:30am local time.

A total of 349 male and female jockeys representi­ng 54 countries are battling for the titles in eight divisions.

The FEI World Equestrian Games is held once every four years under the supervisio­n of the Internatio­nal Federation for Equestrian Sports.
