Govt, people firmly behind army, intelligence agencies
islamabad — Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government and people of Pakistan firmly stood behind their armed forces and intelligence agencies, who played a vital role in national security.
Imran Khan’s remarks came during a visit to the ISI headquarters here. He greatly acknowledge the unprecedented achievements of those institutions and lauded the contributions of ISI towards national security, especially in the ongoing counter-terrorism effort.
He said that the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) was the country’s first line of defence and stood out as the best intelligence agency of the world.
He was received by Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and ISI DG Lt-Gen Naveed Mukhtar.
According to a press release issued by the ISPR, the prime minister laid a wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered fateha.
The prime minister, who was accompanied by cabinet ministers, was briefed in details on various strategic, intelligence and national security matters at the premier agency.

Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said the government and military leadership were on the same page and both were collectively working to protect the interests of the country.
The minister said different institutions make up a state and they were working in cohesion to formulate a national policy and secure national interests.
Advancing the objective of a peaceful neighbourhood, the armed forces of Pakistan supported prime minister Imran Khan’s stance regarding India, he added.
He said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a huge tool for development and attracting investment and no country should have the right to raise objections over it.
Pakistan wanted durable peace in Afghanistan so that the objective of regional connectivity could be expanded to the neighbouring country, he added.
Pakistan had also invited all the friendly and interested countries to avail the investment opportunities emerging from the CPEC projects, he said. — APP
