dubai — Except for one “minor delay,” flights to the US and the Philippines by UAE-based airlines operated as scheduled on Friday.

Both the US and the Philippines were battered by super typhoons. Hurricane Florence crashed into the Carolinas as a giant, slowmoving storm on Friday while Typhoon Mangkhut (Philippine name: Ompong) maintained its ferocious strength and shifted slightly towards more densely populated coastal provinces in northeastern Philippines.

But flights out of the UAE to the two countries remained on schedule. Emirates Airline has daily flights to three international airports in the Philippines — Manila, Cebu and Clark.

“Except for one minor delay on a flight to Manila, there were no cancellations of flights to the Philippines. And no cancellations to the US so far,” an Emirates spokesperson told Khaleej Times.

An Etihad spokesperson also said that their operations were normal and that they have been monitoring the weather conditions in the two countries.

Meanwhile, on Thursday, Emirates advised its customers that due to Typhoon Mangkhut, Emirates flight EK338 for Dubai (DXB)-Cebu (CEB)-Clark (CRK)Dubai on September 15 and 16 might be impacted.

“Customers are advised to check their flight status for the latest updates and to ensure their contact details are correct by visiting ‘Manage Your Booking’ to receive the latest updates. Customers booked to travel to/from Cebu/Clark on September 15 or 16 can opt to change their flights up to seven days later than originally booked and are requested to contact their travel agent or booking offices to make changes to their bookings,” Emirates posted on its website.
