Five-day online auction offers 300 fancy plates
dubai — Are you looking for fancy car plates? The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering about 300 licensing plates comprising 3, 4 and 5-digit plates in its forthcoming 54th online auction.
Plates on offer bear A, B, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R, S, and T Codes and registration of bidders will start on Sunday. The online auction will start on October 7 and will run for five days.
“The selling of licensing plates in this auction will be subject to a five per cent Value Added Tax (VAT). The wide public participation and positive competition for grabbing number plates, which is typical of open or online auctions, underscore the importance of holding these auctions. It reflects the role of such auctions is raising the satisfaction and happiness of clients among number plate enthusiasts,” said Jamal Hashim Assada, director of RTA’s Vehicles Licensing.
“To participate in the auction, the client has to have an account with the RTA through the website (www. rta.ae). Registration of the new user requires the applicant to have a vehicle registered in Dubai or a driver license issued from Dubai. “The potential bidder is also required to pay a security cheque amounting to Dh5,000 along with a non-refundable Dh120 as subscription fee. Payment can be made at Customers Happiness Centres at Umm Al Ramool, Al Barsha or Deira.
“It can also be done online using a credit card via (www.rta.ae) or the Dubai Drive app. The successful bidder has to clear the dues within 10 working days from the date of closing the auction. Defaulters will be blacklisted,” he added.
The RTA said that online auctions are particularly appealing to a large segment of the community as they give them the liberty of selecting their fancied plates in a hassle-free environment. Auction also contributes to enhancing the online services of the RTA.
