ras al kahimah — Heavy showers have flooded the Wadi (Valley) Al Agili to the south of the emirate, according to residents.

“The heavy showers have filled the dams and increased the underground water in the area,” said Mohammed Ibrahim, an Emirati resident.

The downpour has also attracted the people to enjoy the fine weather, scenic views, and spectacular waterfalls.

“I could not help taking my family to the Wadi Al Agili to enjoy the fine weather and rains,” said Abdullah Al Shaali, an Emirati national. “Some light to moderate rains have also fallen on the Jais Mountain where families flocked to the scenic site to enjoy the beautiful weather,” said Sherif Al Wakeel, an Egyptian resident.

Ibrahim Abdul Qader, an Egptian resident, said: “The valleys and passes here are almost filled with rain water.”

The RAK police had deployed more patrols as a precaution, and urged drivers to be careful on the road. The police have also warned residents to avoid going out in the unstable weather. “It is so risky to go out or drive under the heavy showers, thunder storm, and thunders. Avoid the valleys and slippery roads, and contact the central operations room in case of emergency.”

Muhammad Ashraf, a Pakistani resident, said he was eagerly waiting for the rains.

“It was almost impossible to go out over the last few days because of the strong winds and sandy storms. Now the showers have washed away the dust and weather is clear.”

Residents expect more showers as the sky remains cloudy.
