Among the key announcements was Dubai Cares’ endorsement of the Unicef Generation Unlimited initiative — a new global partnership dedicated to increasing opportunities for and investments in young people.

The launch of the initiative at the UN headquarters brought together government ministers, development agencies, the private sector, academia, international and civil society organisations, and the youth. It aims to identify, co-create, resource and scale-up innovative solutions to expand on opportunities for young people.

Tariq Al Gurg, Chief Executive Officer, Dubai Cares, said: “We are proud to pledge our support to this initiative and applaud Unicef for putting young people themselves in the driving seat of their own destiny and supporting them to reach their maximum potential. Through our strategic support to this initiative, we will put young people at the centre and work with them to identify and support innovative ways to increase pathways for youth to quality education, training and employment opportunities by 2030.”

Dubai Cares also renewed its support towards global fund for education in emergencies called Education Cannot Wait. The entity’s support will ensure that the education of children and young people displaced by conflicts, epidemics and natural disasters is not disrupted.

“The extraordinary efforts made by Education Cannot Wait have drawn tremendous attention to the overwhelming need for a collective global push to provide sustainable and innovative educational solutions for children affected by emergencies and protracted crises,” said Al Gurg.
