Drunk man ‘molests waitress after sneaking into her room’

dubai — A worker has been charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance for allegedly sneaking into a women’s room and molesting a sleeping Filipina.

Prosecutor­s charged the 26-year-old Pakistani man with trespassin­g, molestatio­n and consuming alcohol without a licence.

He had consumed three cans of beer prior to the incident. A complaint was filed on August 28 at Al Qusais police station.

The 26-year-old complainan­t, a waitress, said she was sleeping about half past midnight in her room, which was shared by five other women at their company’s staff accommodat­ion.

“I felt someone pulling the pillow off my head and then fondling me. I opened my eyes and saw it was a man — the one on trial.”

When he noticed she had woken up, he rushed out. “I woke up my roommates and from the recordings of the cameras installed in the hallway we identified the suspect,” the complainan­t told the prosecutor, adding that the intruder was also caught on camera turning the room kitchen’s light off so his face would not show in the dark.

A policeman told the investigat­or: “The man was brought to us by the security guard. He claimed he entered the woman’s room by mistake as the lights were off. He admitted he had consumed alcohol.” the officer He remains in detention. The trial is adjourned to October 24.
