abu dhabi — Personalised products in skin care is in high demand, said an expert in dermatology during the second edition of the Emirates Academy of Dermatology, Aesthetics and Laser Conference and Exhibition (Emirates Derma) — an event dedicated to specialists in dermatology.
Dr Hassan Galadari, conference chairman of Emirates Derma, said: “There has been a huge boom in the skin care industry with the advent of not just new products but also more personalised versions of them. There have been a number of DNA analysis services that look into the genetic make-up of individuals to cater to their needs. This has become not just a trend but a mainstay.”
The three-day gathering, inaugurated on Thursday in Abu Dhabi, will highlight the latest advances in cosmetic dermatology, plastic surgery, facial aesthetics and anti-aging. A number of dedicated sessions on pure injections, workshops and live demonstrations of complicated skin treatments will be explored in greater depth.
A first time event, Emirates Injection Boot Camp — a dedicated gathering for injectors and specialists who focus on soft tissue augmentation — was also held during the conference.
Anas Al Madani, executive chairman of Emirates Derma, said: “Emirates Derma comes at a time when the global skin care market is undergoing a massive transformation with many key scientific and technological breakthroughs giving rise to new skin care solutions and treatment options for the first time. In order to keep abreast with the latest trends and practices in the skin care industry, we feel there is a need for a unique international scientific skin care gathering in Abu Dhabi, where industry professionals and experts can come together and discuss new ideas and create new opportunities for collaboration.”
Emirates Derma attracted the participation of over 44 speakers from 23 countries with 59 scientific sessions to highlight key issues and challenges in skin care.
