Dubai Solar Show, Wetex open today
dubai — Showcasing the latest green technologies and renewable energy projects from around the world, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) is opening the third Dubai Solar Show and the 20th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (Wetex) today, and it will run until Thursday at the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
In line with the UAE’s movement to develop a green economy anchored on sustainability, the world’s best innovators come together in these two events that were both led by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, VicePresident and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Minister of Finance, and President of Dewa.
Featuring 125 exhibitors and more than 10 sponsors from different parts of the globe, the Dubai Solar Show will serve as an important platform for both government and private sectors to build partnerships and review the latest technologies in the solar sector, as well as current and future projects. It also allows stakeholders to identify market needs and participate in solar energy projects and programmes.
“Organising the third Dubai Solar Show, after the success of the second, highlights the UAE’s leadership in this field and its leading position in increasing the reliance on solar energy, transforming to a green economy that embraces sustainability in the regional environment, society, and economy.
“The UAE leads the region in shaping the future initiative. That is why we have invested heavily on solar energy and set ambitious goals reinforced by innovative initiatives,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of Dewa and founder and chairman of Wetex. —
