AUDIO BOOKS GAIN VISITORS’ ATTENTION
SHARJAH — Audiobooks have turned the major attraction for visitors, especially students, at the Sharjah International Book Fair.
Many visitors said that audiobooks benefit the younger generation who are not keen to read holding a book at hand.
Storytel Arabia, a stall which focuses on audio story-telling, is decorated with green paper trees where visitors can dive into the dream of listening to stories. It highlights the experience of listening to an audio book via the ‘Book Oasis’ where Storytel is showcasing its app — giving visitors the opportunity to relax while listening to a wide range of audio books to choose from. Ammar Mardawi, country manager of Storytel Arabia, said that book series were written for audio books. “Storytel originals are a series of stories that contains of 10 to 15 episodes. You won’t find any of these stories even in print.”
He pointed out that Storytel operates across 15 countries and is collaborating with the Sharjah Book Authority to provide the best platform for to reach out to the prospective partnerships and alliances in the Middle East.
Storytel has launched in app in the UAE with 23,000 books in both Arabic and English.
