Chairs, wheels and other parts of a crashed Indonesian Lion Air jet were hauled from the depths on Friday, as authoritie­s analysed black box data that may explain why the new plane plummeted into the Java Sea, killing 189 people. Search teams have been scouring the seabed for the fuselage of the Boeing-737 MAX 8.

Killer put to death in electric chair

A Tennessee man convicted of a double murder was put to death on Thursday in the electric chair. Edmund Zagorski, 63, was the first US convict in five years to be put to death by electrocut­ion. Zagorski was sentenced to death for the 1983 murders of two men he lured into a wooded area with a promise to sell them marijuana.
