UAE: IrAn pAys prIcE for Its AggrEssIvE polIcIEs
dubai — UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr Anwar Mohammed Gargash said on Saturday that Iran’s “aggressive policies” were “largely responsible” for the reimposition of US sanctions on Tehran.
Washington will on Monday reintroduce far-reaching sanctions on Iran’s vital oil sales and banking sectors to try to force Tehran into negotiations to scrap its nuclear energy and ballistic missile programmes and end its support for proxies in conflicts across the Middle East.
“By addressing Iran’s nefarious policies we have a rare opportunity to achieve real stability in the region and not just the management of its crises. A normal, stable and developing Iran is good for all concerned,” Dr Gargash tweeted.
“Approaching regional and international concerns regarding Iran’s conduct and policy rationally will serve that nation and the region better. Tehran’s hostile and aggressive approach has been the major source of instability,” he said.
Iran’s top leader was earlier reported as saying that US President Donald Trump’s policies face opposition across the world as Washington prepared to reimpose sanctions on Iran’s vital oil-exporting and financial sectors. —
