Unmarried couple forge birth certificat­e for love child

dubai — An Emirati man, 48, and a 31-year-old Uzbek woman were charged at the Dubai Court of First Instance for having illicit sexual relation that resulted in a love child.

The pair has also been accused of forgery after they allegedly faked a birth certificat­e, using a fake marriage contract in her name and that of another man.

They fraudulent­ly obtained the forged birth certificat­e from a hospital, the court heard.

Prosecutor­s accused the two defendants of having sex out of wedlock; aiding and abetting forgery; and using fake documents. The arrests were made on July 27 and a case was registered at Al Rafaa Police Station.

According to public prosecutio­n records, the accused forged a birth certificat­e that claimed the baby was the daughter of another man.

The couple admitted to the prosecutio­n investigat­or to having an illicit sexual relation and a baby girl out of it.

They also confessed that they used a fake marriage contract and got a birth certificat­e issued for them at the hospital.

A DNA test on the baby and the male defendant showed he is her biological father. Moreover, a letter from the hospital said that a birth certificat­e dated September 21, 2017, was issued to the woman.

The trial continues on November 25.
