dubai — Brazil land in Dubai on Nov. 2, looking to clinch their third consecutive Huawei Intercontinental Beach Soccer Cup, which would be their fourth in total.

The defending World Champions will try to extend their stunning 63-game invincibility run by claiming more wins in this competition, which will take place between Nov. 6 and 10 on Kite Beach. The Brazilians have won each of the last three tournaments they have competed in.

The Brazilian coach Gilberto da Costa feels confident about the form of his men ahead of the demanding competition in Dubai. “We are going into the Huawei Intercontinental Cup Dubai in good shape. We have had a pretty good training weeks, with games in Conmebol competitions since last September, combined with some necessary periods of rest. We will keep training until the day we fly to Dubai, on Nov. 2,” he said.

All the beach soccer fans are looking forward to seeing the Verdeamarela back in action, and the Brazilian coach believes that the performance of the team will not disappoint. “We want to maintain what we have been doing over the last few years. A balanced team that plays enjoyable, fun beach soccer, without forgetting that the individual talent is always at the service of the team. We will always try our best in every single game, always respecting our opponents, especially knowing how strong they will be in Dubai”, Gilberto added.

Being the same old Brazil we all know does not mean that the team will be exactly the same, as Gilberto reckons that, to keep winning, you cannot stop developing your game.

“We will implement some fresh tactics, of course,” he said. “We cannot just get along with the way we play, we always have to look for the way to get better, quicker, stronger. I want a faster team, more compact and more intense.”

Gilberto has another reason to look forward to Dubai, as he will also be in the Beach Soccer Stars gala on Nov. 10 as one of the three nominees for the Best Coach of the Year award. He said: “It is always a great feeling to be chosen as one of the best coaches, and I am really proud of that.”

Brazil will be the ones to kick off the competition on Nov. 6. The Verdeamarela will begin their title defense against Spain, at 4:15pm. Following that game, hosts UAE will make their debut, taking on Egypt (5:30 pm).
