Youth in dock for asking kids to attack teachers

abu dhabi — A 21-year-old man stood trial at the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance for promoting hatred by posting an Instagram video inciting violence.

The court heard that the Abu Dhabi Police had arrested the Arab youth after investigations revealed that he had posted the video, in which he urged students of a school to attack their teachers if they were not happy with them.

Later, the police referred the man to the public prosecution, where he was charged with inciting violence and violating online laws. Officers said they charged the man in accordance with Federal Law No. 2 of 2015 on the fight against discrimination and hatred and the Federal Law No. 5 of 2012 on combating online crimes.

The young man denied the charges when he appeared in court. The trial was adjourned to a later date.
