Zaheer Khan excited to play for Bengal Tigers

-

dubai — Bengal Tigers star Zaheer Khan was presented with his jersey by team mentor Anis Sajan at a T10 promotional event in Delhi, a Press release said.

Sajan also discussed his plans for the franchise in the upcoming T10 League with the former India fast bowler.

“I was delighted to meet up with Zaheer and discuss our franchise with him. His knowledge and experience will be a decisive factor for the squad,” Sajan said.

“With young pacers such as Amir Yamin, Rayad Emrit and Ali Khan in our squad, Zaheer is excited to not just play alongside them but also groom them. It will be wonderful to have Zaheer in the Bengal Tigers dressing room.”

Zaheer is also looking forward to playing a key role in the second season of the tournament.

“Like scoring runs on every ball is on every batsman’s mind, similarly as bowlers we will have to bring out new tricks to bowl dot balls,” he said

Zaheer, a World Cup winner with the Indian team in 2011, was easily India’s best pacer in recent history.

While he could play only 17 T20s for India, the left-arm pacer played 100 IPL games and picked up 102 wickets at an economy of 7.59. He will don the colours of Bengal Tigers with fellow IPL stars Sunil Narine, Sam Billings, Jason Roy, Morne Morkel, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rehman.

Former New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming is the Bengal Tigers coach.
