Two men stand trial for forgery
dubai — A 40-year-old Emirati and a 57-year-old Egyptian businessman stood trial for allegedly forging test form copies for technicians and engineers positions of eight employees.
The forms, which are original formats issued by the General Directorate of Civil Defence, were copied, tampered, filled in with false information — in the names of the eight employees — and stamped with a seal and signature wrongly attributed to the directorate, public prosecution records showed.
]The two defendants were also accused of using the forged copies by submitting them to an employee of the directorate when renewing the business licence of a security and safety firm, where the said employees worked.
They were both charged at the Court of First Instance with forging and using of forged official documents copies. The public prosecution investigators referred the pair to trial with a plea they received a severe penalty as per the law. The case dates back to September 5, 2016.
A civil defence captain said he learned from an officer and a legal consultant that the security and safety firm had applied at their department to get approval for eight employees as maintenance and fire equipment installation technicians.
“I checked the documents they presented. When the officer checked those forms he found they had been tampered with. There were no original forms of test results. We spotted a resemblance in the signatures and tests on the forms. There was nothing in the documents to indicate that the required fees were paid neither.”
The witness told the prosecutors that on September 11, 2016, one of the defendants filed an application to have three technicians promoted to electrical and mechanical engineers. “We detected a similarity in the attestation of the college degrees of two technicians.”
The trial has been adjourned to November 26.
