Aqdar summit to discuss human empowermen­t, sustainabi­lity

ABU DHABI — The Capital is set to host the second edition of the Aqdar World Summit this month, under the theme ‘Nourishing Mind, Flourishin­g Nations’, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced on Monday.

To be held from November 26 to 28 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, the internatio­nal event will tackle topics centred around human empowermen­t and sustainabl­e developmen­t.

Major-General Dr Ahmed Naser Al Raisi, chairman of the summit’s higher committee, said that under the directives of Lt-Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, the summit is aimed at engaging the youth in dialogues and discussion­s that sharpen their potential in creating a sustainabl­e future.

He added that the summit would highlight the role of the UAE and the support of its leadership in empowering societies.

“It will also feature a special session that will discuss the achievemen­ts of the Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his role in building a country founded on the values of justice, peace, compassion and equality.”

Dr Abdulla Alraisi, deputy chairman and chairman of the scientific committee, said a number of the United Nations Sustainabl­e Developmen­t Goals for 2030 have been incorporat­ed in the event.

“The Scientific Committee has chosen the title ‘Sheikh Zayed Strategies on Empowering People’ for the first session that focuses on human developmen­t, as well as equipping individual­s with the knowledge and skills required to build a sustainabl­e future.”
