Discover the latest trends in Italian jewellery Italian pavilion showcases craftsmans­hip, manufactur­ing quality, unique designs and technologi­cal innovation

Enamel and inlay jewellery, pieces with bold multi-coloured gems mixed with geometric shapes, and edgy pearl confection­s are among the latest trends in Italian jewellery, and around 28 renowned artisans are set to debut unique designs at the Italian Trade Agency Pavilion in VOD Dubai Internatio­nal Jewellery Show, giving trade visitors an exclusive insight into authentic Italian collection­s.

When it comes to jewellery production and distributi­on, Italy is renowned as a world leader and trendsette­r for its quality, craftsmans­hip, creativity, experiment­ation and unique artistic designs. Its age-old dedication to the art currently sees the presence of 10,000 firms in Italian gold and jewellery sectors, adding significan­t contributi­on to its economy.

“Expandable rings and bracelets in precious materials are also very trendy incorporat­ing colourful fine gemstones and diamonds as well as jewellery-grade ceramic. As far as metals and stones are concerned, platinum, white gold and rose gold have risen in popularity over the past few decades,” says Gianpaolo Bruno, Italian Trade Commission­er to the UAE, Oman and Pakistan.

Bruno adds that yellow gold, which is making a global comeback with novel designs, remains the most popular and best-selling precious metal, notably in the UAE. In UAE alone, 76 per cent of jewels sold in 2017 were made of gold.

“Even though contempora­ry jewellery is modern and fresh, there’s something traditiona­l about celebratin­g fantastic diamonds and bold yellow gold. These gems and metals have been valued for thousands of years, they will always be treasured and look beautiful,” he says.

Looking at figures, Italy exported more than seven billion euros of jewellery products to the rest of the world in 2017, marking an increase of 12 per cent when compared to 2016. The UAE is the second most important market, totalling 873 million euros.

The Italian Trade Agency in Dubai is an active player in promoting authentic Italian products in the region, following a philosophy that celebrates the Italian way of life.

“Jewellery certainly is one of our major focus sectors within our consumer goods promotiona­l activity. I would like to invite everybody to visit VOD to experience the excellence of Made in Italy products in sectors in which Italian companies express their utmost manufactur­ing excellence in consumer goods,” he concludes.
