dubai — The Dubai Police aim at developing systems of artificial intelligence in all areas of policing, a senior officer said on Monday.

Brigadier-General Khalid Nasser Al Razzouqi, directorgeneral of the Department of Artificial Intelligence at the Dubai Police, said the strategic plan for artificial intelligence aims at forecasting crimes and traffic accidents and developing the best techniques and tools for a balanced use of artificial intelligence and human cadres.

Speaking at a session on the second day of the 87th Interpol General Assembly in Dubai, Brig-Gen Al Razzouqi pointed out that the strategic plan for artificial intelligence aims at making the UAE the first in the world to invest in artificial intelligence in various vital sectors.

The strategic plan of the Dubai Police for Artificial Intelligence 2018-2021 aims to achieve the objectives of the UAE’s strategies aiming to modify and implement development programmes and projects to reach the future, relying on artificial intelligence in the service and analysis of data by 100 per cent by 2031.

“The plan includes development of future service centres for Dubai Police customers, which will rely on artificial intelligence systems, promoting the smart systems that predict the requirements and desires of the customers,” he added.

The second days sessions were attended by Kim Jong-yang, Senior Vice-President of Interpol; Jürgen Stok, Secretary-General of Interpol; and delegates from 192 countries.

More than 1,300 participants, including 40 ministers and 85 police chiefs from all over the world, were also present.

They discussed various issues including cross-border and transnational crimes, threats of crimes that affect societies and preparations to be taken to meet the future challenges.

The Interpol General Assembly also analysed the phenomenon of cyber terrorism and communication between the various police agencies around the world.
