Roadworks to cause delay near Central Market area

sharjah — Motorists heading to the Central Market in Sharjah can expect delays due to scheduled one-week maintenanc­e and developmen­t works.

Sources with the Roads and Transport Authority Sharjah (RTA-Sharjah) announced on Monday that the planned developmen­t works are slated to run on November 19 to 25.

“This is a diversion more than a closure; and it is the last phase of the maintenanc­e works.”

Drivers heading from the Uruba Street to the Central Market will be affected by the road works, they added.

“The pavement tiles and asphalt layers of the internal roads at the Sharjah Central Market are to be replaced and repainted.

“This is part of a two-month bigger project, worth Dh4 million.”

The project, to cover part of King Faisal Road around the Ittihad Park, spans the replacemen­t of the interlock, tiles, and asphalt layers there, she added. “

All the roads and streets at the said area will be repainted.

“All drivers are urged to follow road sign boards to avoid congestion,” she said.
