Over 1,500 prisoners pardoned by UAE leaders

abu dhabi — Ahead of the 47th National Day celebratio­ns, Rulers of the Emirates ordered the release of hundreds of prisoners from various punitive and reformativ­e institutio­ns.

The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has ordered the release of 785 prisoners across the country. The President’s directive included the settlement of their debts and fines, granting them the chance to start a new life.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Monday ordered the release of 625 prisoners from Dubai’s prisons.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, on Monday ordered the release of 182 prisoners of different nationalit­ies from the punitive and reformativ­e institutio­ns in Sharjah.

His Highness Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ajman, ordered the release of 90 prisoners.

His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Fujairah, has ordered the release of 65 prisoners from penal and correction­al facilities in the emirate for good conduct considerat­ions.

His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mu’alla, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, ordered the release of a number of prisoners, who have demonstrat­ed good conduct during their sentences.

In Ras Al Khaimah, His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, ordered the release of 205 prisoners from a number of punitive and reformativ­e institutio­ns. —
