Why not give peace a chance and end all conflicts for good?

- RaMacHandran nair

While 9/11 and 26/11 have been etched in history, it is disappointing that human atrocities continue to happen hurting the sentiments of a peace-loving society. History reveals that man-made errors will continue to happen and a simple word like ‘regret’ cannot justify when such actions turn to disasters and get out of control.

Conflicts have been raging on across the world for years. We do not learn from past mistakes, but continue to be dictated by our personal agendas and benefits. The ongoing conflict in Syria, frequent bombings in Afghanistan are because of poor choices made by the leaders and only rational thinking can put an end to all this.

The theory that the poor continue to be exploited by the rich, unfortunately still exists. A traditionally rich country like Iraq has been hit by several conflicts over the past two decades.

Even as people are struggling to get back to normalcy the economic meltdown due to fall in oil prices is aggravating the situation. It has therefore become imperative on today’s generation to have a kind of commitment to tackle militancy, atrocities, refugee crisis, conflicts, killings and abuse of women and children.

The repeat of incidents echo the pathetic condition of the youth, especially school-going children, who have been either witnessing or listening to such horrific news almost every day. Leaders must have better strategies to tackle conflicts and such atrocities.

People in India’s commercial hub cannot forget the carnage that dazed the world. The suffering from a so-called post-traumatic stress disorder is beyond words and it will take decades for today’s youth to make their life better aligned. Dollars cannot cure the suffering. Unfortunately, the concern continues to remain as legal proceedings are delayed which could lead to a recurrence of similar incidents.

Let us now pay tributes to those who lost their lives in 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.
