Lijian Zhao, Chinese Deputy Head of Mission

islamabad — Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Monday said that enemies cannot disrupt Pakistan-China strategic relations through conspiracies as both nations shared a deep-rooted friendship.

Addressing a ceremony in connection with collection of donations for police personnel killed at the Chinese consulate in Karachi, the minister said that terrorist attack on the consulate in Karachi was part of a bigger conspiracy to sabotage Pakistan’s relations with China.

He said some countries were wary of close ties between Beijing and Islamabad, but they would never be able to achieve their nefarious designs.

The minister said the entire nation was proud of the sacrifice of the police personnel and the governments of Pakistan and China stand by their families.

Paying tribute to the martyred police personnel, he said that they laid down their lives in the line of duty and foiled the cowardly attack.

He said that Pakistan’s armed forces, police, Rangers and other law-enforcement agencies, intelligent agencies and the people have rendered unprecedented sacrifices in this war on terror.

He said that fund-raising by the Chinese community was proof of deep-rooted relations between the two countries.

Fawad said that Pakistan was a resilient nation which has fought against the scourge of terrorism for the past one and a half decade bravely. “Had any other country faced such as situation, it would have collapsed,” he added.

The minister said since Pakistan recognised China just after the revolution, its relations with that country have strengthened with the passage of time.

Pakistan, a land of Sufis, used to be a land of peace and love but terrorists damaged its economy and social fabric, he said.

Chinese Deputy Head of Mission Lijian Zhao said that Chinese people were raising funds for the families of the two martyred police officers who foiled a terrorist attack on Chinese consulate in Karachi.

He said Pakistan’s friendship with China is deeply rooted and originated from heart. “Chinese enthusiasm for giving donations, is an expression of gratitude to the policemen, reflecting a special feeling for Pakistan, which is also very touching,” he added. —
