‘InDIA-UAE TIES STRonGER THAn EVER’
ABU DHABI — Relationship between the UAE and India is set to hit unimaginable heights in near future, said Indian External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
In a public address at the India Social and Cultural Centre Abu Dhabi, Swaraj said the blueprint to take the bilateral relations to new level was drawn through her meetings with His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces; and Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
The minister said the leaders of both the countries have ensured that the bilateral ties are stronger than ever. “The relationship has moved from buyer-seller to one of co-production with areas of cooperation in energy,” she said.
“It was perceived by political experts that if Narendra Modi became Indian prime minister, then he would find it difficult to indulge with a Muslim-majority country. However, he proved everyone wrong with his visit to the UAE and later to Saudi Arabia. Modi government has established strong ties with all Muslim countries,” she said.
The minister said there was a joint effort to check fraudulent recruitment agents.
Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri pointed out that the minister with 11.9 million followers on Twitter is the world’s most followed woman leader and also the foreign minister.
