Dr Zeeshan Anwar, general physician, Aster Clinic, International City, Dubai, said he sees a lot of his patients suffering from work stress, tiredness and pressure of targets. “Work pressure has led many people become patients of high blood pressure, cholesterol, cardiovascular diseases, body sugar etc but now I am seeing a rising trend of workplace wellness programmes which I advice all my patients to avail of and follow.”
He said: “I have seen a drastic improvement in the health of some of my patients who have joined office wellness programmes such as yoga classes, corporate matches and activities. All these programmes make employees feel fresh and energetic and increases their productivity.”
Dr Zeeshan concluded that at the end of the day, these wellness programmes also reduce healthcare cost of the company. “If the employee is in good health, the healthcare burden on the government, office and insurance companies goes down. And also it will solve and reduce the issue of absenteeism at work.”
