ajman — The Ajman Public Prosecution has referred three men to the Ajman Criminal Court for alleged murder of two Emiratis during a group fight that took place last January on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Umm Al Quwain. Four others will stand trial at the court on charges of physical assault.

According to the police and public prosecution records, the police received a call on January 7 about a clash between two groups using white weapons. When the police arrived at the spot, they found the body of a 22-year-old Emirati, who was stabbed and ran over by a car while trying to cross the road to safety.

Another body of a 26-year-old man was also found a few meters away with several stab wounds in his abdomen. The police record also indicates that three men were injured, including one person with Comoros Islands passport. He was rushed to Khalifa hospital while the other two injured men were taken to Umm Al Quwain Hospital.

The police investigation resulted in the arrest of three men holding Comoros Islands passports within 12 hours from the time of the incident.

Col Abdullah Saif Al Matrouhsi, director of the operation department at the Ajman Police, said that the weapons used in the fighti were recovered from the suspects’ possession.

During the interrogation, they confessed to their involvement in the fighting.

The accused will appear before court for their first hearing on Sunday.
