dubai — A man got robbed of Dh110,000, which belonged to his boss, after a woman lured him with a Dh50 massage service offer, a Dubai court was told.

The Court of First Instance heard on Thursday how the 49-year-old Azerbaijani woman spotted the Indian victim walking down the Gold Souq in Naif area. She offered him massage for Dh50 and led him to a flat where her 39-year-old compatriot assaulted him with an iron bar and robbed Dh110,000 from his bag. Naif police station received the complaint on July 31.

The Indian man, 28, who was tricked and robbed, said: “I collected Dh110,000 from my boss to purchase electronic toys from shops across Naif. I kept it in a bag I was carrying on my shoulder.”

He recounted to the public prosecution investigator that as he was walking, a woman approached him offering a massage service for just Dh50. “Upon her insistence, I went with her to a studio flat. However, once inside, a man walked out of the bathroom, charging at me with an iron bar. He hit me on my left arm and after I fell down, he snatched my bag and took the sum.”

The woman then fled the scene while the victim was forcibly kicked out. “The police arrived shortly later after I called them. They broke open the door. The man had gone

while my bag was found with just Dh10 in it,” the victim said.

A police officer said they received the complaint around 2.30pm on the day of the incident. “We went to the building where the robbery happened. The victim looked scared. His boss was also there and spoke to us.

“The victim recounted that he accompanied the woman who offered him the massage. But when he took off his clothes and tried to hug her, she screamed. He was then surprised by a man attacking him with a metallic bar. He fell down and lost the money.”

The police checked the flat and saw it was used for prostitution.

Footage from a nearby shop’s CCTV cameras captured the victim walking with the woman and getting inside the building.

The two suspects were not caught on the surveillance camera leaving the building from the entrance. The police believe it is possible they might have jumped to the adjacent building rooftop and fled through the stairs.

According to a real estate office, the flat was rented by another woman from Eastern Europe. The trial has been adjourned to December 20.
