Disruptive technology charts way for future
230m Gallons of clean water will be generated in Dubai by 2030
dubai — Participants of a discussion panel on the final day of the fifth Dubai International Project Management Forum 2018 emphasised that future trends of energy should be driven by disruptive technology. This Technology fosters types of clean and sustainable energy to operate efficiently and reduce the carbon footprint to the minimum. Participants stressed that achieving these objectives would be challenging, hence, requires a concerted effort to create a more energy-efficient world for future generations.
Saeed Al Tayer, managing director and CEO of the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa), praised the UAE’s move to achieve 75 per cent of energy from renewable sources such as solar power.
“Apart from using advanced technologies, we are also working to change the mindset culture of consumers with respect to electricity and water supply. Both are vital and play a critical role in achieving this strategic objective. Dubai is working to make progress in water sustainability, through generating 230 million gallons of clean water by 2030,” added Al Tayer.
Dr Ivan Vera, former energy secretary at the UN, said: “This technology will trigger new trends and markets in the global economy. Dubai will certainly achieve its objectives in this field.”
Sultan bin Sulayem, group chairman and CEO of DP World, and Pierre Verzat, CEO of Systra, also spoke at the session.
