abu dhabi — Fifa Club World Cup UAE 2018 is not only a great opportunity for fans to watch the world’s best players in action but also experience the rich Emirati culture, Major General Mohammad Khalfan Al Rumaithi said on Tuesday.

“In addition to our national hosts, Al Ain FC, the tournament will welcome international teams and fans from Argentina, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Spain and Tunisia. The world is coming to the UAE and we are thrilled to be able to demonstrate the country’s hospitality and capacity to host world-class sporting events to spectators from every corner of the planet. We want everyone to make it a tournament to remember,” said Al Rumaithi, Commander-in-Chief of Abu Dhabi Police and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Sports.

Al Rumaithi, head of the tournament’s Higher Local Organising Committee, urged visitors to experience the rich history, heritage and culture of Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, as well as other emirates.

“Fans will want to focus on their teams’ matches, which is completely natural. However, we encourage them to explore the hospitality of the country — from the rich tapestry of ancient heritage sites, to the modern cultural institutions in both Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and beyond,” said Al Rumaithi, who is also in fray for the Asian Football Confederation presidency.

Al Rumaithi noted there are hundreds of ways for visiting fans to experience the uniqueness of the UAE – a country unlike any other in the world.

“Fans can also experience the majestic beauty of our modern cultural institutions, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi on Saadiyat Island,” added Al Romaithi.
