Times can reveal. A father, his son and friend from the northeastern state of Tripura are among the latest to be duped by an agent based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

The three men said they were promised jobs in the construction sector. “Instead of the promised employment visa, what we got was a one-month tourist visa,” Ajith Runjan Majumdar, 44, said.

The men said they “went through hell” as the agent kept moving them from place to place after they landed in Sharjah on September 8.

“We have been staying outside a mosque in Abu Dhabi since the last two days,” Majumdar added.

Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri, said the embassy has got in touch with the police in Tripura to bring the culprits to book. He said the embassy has been receiving an increasing number of such cases.
