RAK Courts launches tolerance section

ras al khaimah — The Ras Al Khaimah Courts has launched a new section for tolerance and settlement­s, right in time for the UAE’s celebratio­n of 2019 as the ‘Year of Tolerance’.

Ibrahim Al Zaabi, director of the RAK Courts, said the new section, set to be managed by high-calibre counsellor­s and experts, will strive to settle all disputes amicably.

“It will cover inheritanc­e-related cases, rent disputes, along with civil and labour lawsuits,” Al Zaabi said.

He said the value of tolerance is deeply rooted in the customs, traditions and heritage of the UAE people, so amicable settlement­s would certainly be possible for both citizens and residents.

“This value has helped us produce the unique example of peaceful coexistenc­e of over 180 nationalit­ies,” he added.

disputes to be heard first by the counsellin­g section before being referred to the court. “Staff counsellor­s have helped defuse thousands of cases involving Emiratis and residents of various nationalit­ies,” Al Makki said.

Abdullah Al Shiba, head of the

tolerance section, said he is confident that his team would be able to achieve their goals.

“Many of our staff counsellor­s are brilliant in this regard and have successful­ly managed to end numerous disputes in an amicable way.”

of community services at the RAK Courts who was also the official behind the new drive, said all the parties involved are free to take their dispute to the court if they fail to settle their litigation amicably.

“Most of the customers opt for amicable settlement,” Al Habsi said.

The President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, recently declared 2019 as the Year of Tolerance for the UAE. Highlighti­ng the country as a global capital for tolerance, various legislativ­e and policy-oriented goals will be set to instil the values of coexistenc­e and peace in local, regional and internatio­nal communitie­s.
