Pulse Secure register back-to-back victories

dubai — Pulse Secure recorded back-to-back wins against Roaring Lions and Dubai Mammoths in the third DCC Saturday Silly Sloggers League played at the Sevens ground in Dubai.

Roaring Lions after opting to bat first did well to post 146 for 9 in 25 overs. Carlin Joy was their top scorer with 43 and Hashim Ahmed chipped in with 32. These were the only two batsmen who got going against some good bowling from Shahrukh Shaikh (4-31), Abdul Rehman (3-21) and Faisal Amin (2-25).

In reply Faizan Shaikh remained unbeaten on 59 and Sohail Hamsheed contribute­d 34 but it was left to man of the match Shahrukh to play a cameo knock of 19 not out and take his team home.

In their next match against Dubai Mammoths it was Shahrukh again who played a crucial role with a half century while Usman Munir added 43 to take Pulse to 155. These knocks came against some very good bowling from Sajjad Gul (3-25), Devendra Taneja (3-27) and Prajakat Chouhan (3-18).

In reply Dubai Mammoths were in the dumps at one stage when they were 29 for 9. With all hope lost the

last pair of Sheldon D’Cruz (56 not out) and Devendra Taneja (59 not out) stitched a 119 run partnershi­p to give Pulse the jitters.

In the end what should have been a cakewalk for Pulse turned out into a nail biting affair after Dubai Mammoths came close but lost by only seven runs.

A five wicket haul by Santosh Kotian and three from Ranjeet Chavan was instrument­al in taking Dubai Mammoths to victory over Farooq.

Siddhanth Agarwal (42) and Aryan Lakra (23) were the only two batsmen to weather the storm to an extent but the others failed to read man of the match Santosh and Ranjeet who finished with 5 for 14 and 3 for 18 respective­ly to bowl out Farooq for a meagre 118.

In their chase Dubai Mammoths batsmen also came under fire from Aryan Lakra (3-25) and Aditya Shetty (2-31) but Sajjad Gul stood firm with a solid 43 and Vinayak Nair chipped in with 23.

The match was still evenly balanced but No. 9 batsman Pranav Kumar (8 not out) and No 10 batsman Devendra Taneja (10 not out) slowly guided their team home with two overs to spare.
